A Statement From Our Chairman On The Release Of Pastor Mingri “Ezra” Jin

The Institute for Indo-Pacific Security (IIPS) welcomes the release of Pastor Mingri “Ezra” Jin following more than eight months of wrongful detention by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). We are glad that Pastor Jin was able to reunite with his family after this ordeal. 

The continuing persecution of religious communities in China, including Pastor Jin’s Christian Zion House Church, is unacceptable. IIPS urges the CCP to end its practice of wrongful detention and immediately release those whom it has falsely imprisoned — especially U.S. citizens, such as U Min Zin.

IIPS commends the Trump administration for providing a safe haven for Chinese victims of CCP oppression, like Pastor Jin, and stands by other members of the Christian Zion House Church who are still detained in China today. IIPS also encourages the U.S. Department of State to strengthen its advocacy for wrongfully detained Americans in the PRC.
